Tenerife in All Seasons


Tenerife is the largest of seven Canary Islands and has two climate zones. The Tenerife weather is mild all year round making this island a fantastic choice of holiday destination at any time of the year.

The north has more cloud cover and is cooler while the south has a sub tropical climate and year round sunshine. Tenerife is well known for its sunshine, black volcanic beaches and wild nightlife of Playa de las Americas but there is more to this island! Tenerife holidays have always been popular and many holiday makers return year after year.

Tenerife has several less well known attractions bringing tourists all year round.

The capital city of Santa Cruz is a bustling, cosmopolitan shopper’s paradise attracting a multicultural crowd. The capital is rich in culture and history and one big attraction here is the famous church.

The Nuestra Senora de la Conception is a beautiful building housing a wonderful collection of religious art work. Nearby there is also a large library and sculpture gallery.

Further south, Mount Tiede is probably Tenerife’s most famous attraction attracting many tourists all year round.

This stunning volcanic mountain is a must see while here!

The area stretching from mount Tiede to the north is known as the gardens of Tenerife and is an area rich in dramatically contrasting lush green vegetation and black volcanic coves.

For a chance to soak up some real Canarian culture why not time your trip to catch one of the many festivals which are held here each year.

The Corpas Christi festival is held in June and is very popular. It is a spectacular sight involving carpets of flowers and volcanic earth being laid out in the areas of La Laguna and La Orotova. During February Santa Cruz plays host to 27 days of action packed festivals.

Tenerife also attracts water sports enthusiasts, offering a wide range of sports including diving and windsurfing. Surfing is also becoming popular here. Dolphin and whale watching can also be done on the south coast of the island with the chances of a catching a glimpse high as this is one of the main routs for whale migration.

Golf enthusiasts head to Tenerife all year round often preferring the cooler months.

With so much to de here all year round there is something to suit all tastes. But if lying on a beach is your idea of holiday heaven, then go ahead you will be spoiled for choice by the wonderful beaches here too!
